Being a Canadian i just had to yell from the rooftops and cheer for our great country!    ... but since i dont have a rooftop, im gonna cheer here!   WOOOOOO! GO CANADA!!!! 14 GOLDS!!!

Such a great year for the Winter Olympics, America with 37 total medals, Germany with 30 medals, and Canada with the 14 golds!!  w00t

What were your favourite parts?  Highlights?

Agreed.

Also, my favorite part was the opening ceremonies when those hydraulics froze. Terribly embarrasing, but I had such a laugh.

Scratch that, my new favorite part was the closing ceremonies when they had a mime fix the torch.

Edit: OK, new NEW favorite part, Nickleback playing during the closing ceremonies.

Just making fun of how serious people sometimes get into these things. I thought it was obvious I wasn't really that much of a prick about it.
Enclosing post in sarcasm tags.

Anyways, I never really watched it. I mean, I sorta kept with total medal count off and on but didn't get a whole lot into it.

I'm downloading it for future viewing. Kept track of the wins via the car honks and screaming patriots outside. Did catch some of it live-ish, especially Sidney Crosby's feat at the end of the hockey match. Come on, that was insane! You don't pull that kind of miracle off and not become a legend (well, more of a legend.) And the closing ceremony? Canadian humor for you right thar. I was expecting igloos and the Trailer Park Boys as well, but you can't win 'em all!

I'm usually not a sporty person, but I really got into it this year.

Sadly I was only able to get the last few rounds of the  canadian/american hockey game. Was disappointed.

Still, it was enjoyable, and a better game of hockey than what I've seen in a while.

The only thing I'll say is this.
Montreal, no gold.
Calgary, no gold.
Vancouver:1) we got gold
2) Not only did we get some gold, we also set a new record for total gold medals for a single country!

Go Canada!

(and yeah, I would have loved seeing more igloos in there. *American tourists in the middle of summer asking where's the snow*  Annoyed)

I propose a new rule for the Winter Olympics:
Host them in a place that it actually snows.

It's ironic, in a way: Georgia and the Carolinas, in the south, who get a good snow maybe once in a decade, got a good bit, and then Vancouver up in Canada, of all places, where it should snow, has to import theirs.

Well, they couldn't know it wouldn't snow! And you can't just call the Olympics off on some little details like that. I mean, the Chinese government had to make detours to avoid getting their Olympic flame doused, but they didn't quit.

Couldn't agree more! The sweet irony.

It's because the US stole all our snow! Give it back, all of you down there! It's my snow! All mine!

It's not our fault we get all our crude "snow" from the middle east. Don't you all have some shale "snow"? The liberals won't let us drill for "snow" in Alasaka, either.

Apart from the Middle East, we're your greatest supplier of "snow" and one of the top suppliers in the world. As shown in the last few months.

Snide comments about weather aside, I think that the Vancouver olympics were really awesome. Seeing as I'm half-Canadian (no canadian citizenship but my dad was born in Montreal) I am happy for Canada breaking their medal drought at these winter games. And for them to win gold in Hockey, that was just positively epic, there's no other word to do it justice
