I've noticed that we dont have a thread for currently active members to let each other know when they're going on holiday or leaving for a short period, or to let people know when they're back.
There are a lot more members here since I was last around and I think it'd be crucial to the site as it grows to have one, lest we end up cluttering the new members welcome thread with "I'm back" topics. Last thing we would want is for any new members to be overlooked as a result and it would also aide the community in keeping track of which journals are / aren't active

Just a thought Wink

I am all for this idea. There's been times that someone who always talks to everyone just leaves (like Xemmy) and it makes me wonder what happened.

Maybe you should put up a poll and see what happens.

And it's worse when you know they were having negative hypnosis effects (ie KyohiMutt).

Apologies for thread necromancy, but as one of those folks who routinely disappears from the forums for a month or so at a time, having one place to "check-in" or "check-out" is much easier to reference than a whole bunch of "I'm gone" or "I'm back" topics. It's just surprising to see that I'm the only vote in the poll since this thread's been posted... Thinking

... This really should have had the 2 week voting time limit on it...

I'm not sure why people would feel the need to announce they're leaving for a while and if people notice they've gone it's generally because they were your friends here and would have your messengers addresses.
In any case I don't know why this should need a vote, anyone can feel free to start a thread in site welcomes called leaving and returning and if it keeps it's use up we would probably sticky it anyway... It's worth bearing in mind the idle time on accounts and automatic deletion system though if you're going to leave for a while...
